Located on the back of some certificates is a red stamp, which consists only of letters. This red stamp shows that the watch must come from the USA. It was used exclusively there. But what about the secret code?
The solution is as awesome as it is simple. The letters correspond to numbers and the numbers correspond to the date on which the clock left Rolex and was sent to the concessionaire. The term “ROLEX WATCH” was chosen as encryption:
R | O | L | E | X | W | A | T | C | H |
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 0 |
For example, if a certificate contains the following letter combination
X R C T L
This translates into the world of numbers
M | M | T | T | Y | Y |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
X | R | C | T | L | |
5 | 1 | 9 | 8 | 3 |
If you use the American date-writing it means
May, 19th 1983
On May 19th 1983 Rolex sent this watch to the dealer in the USA.
Two more examples. The code in the title means that the watch was sent to the USA on September 26th, 1994.
M | M | T | T | Y | Y |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
C | O | W | C | E | |
9 | 2 | 6 | 9 | 4 |
The code on the sample certificate means that the shipping date of the watch is December 5, 1990 (December 5th, 1990).
M | M | T | T | Y | Y |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
R | O | X | C | H | |
1 | 2 | 5 | 9 | 0 |
